2009 Student Organization Free Summer Housing

OSAF and RLHS will offer limited free summer housing on-campus to student organizations for the summer of 2009.  This program is designed to enable student organizations who wish to continue their projects in the summertime an inexpensive way to remain in the Durham community.  Applications will be accepted through April 15th, 2009 and will be reviewed based on the indicated need for housing in order to complete projects that are aligned with the organization's mission.

Details:

- 10 double rooms in Craven House A (20 total beds)

- Available for Summer I and Summer II (or both)

- Roommates will be matched by gender

Requirements:

1. Any student associated with a student organization that is listed on DukeGroups (does not have to hold an officer position)

2. Organization President and Advisor approval to seek housing for organization business

3. A statement of the activities or projects that the applicant will be working on over the summer

4. Must attend a meeting during the summer (to be determined date) to give a progress report on summer activities to the group of summer housing residents and OSAF staff

Application Process:

Applications will be accepted online via DukeGroups until 12:00pm on April 15th, 2009.  The summer housing selection committee will be conviened once the application window is closed to consider and create the resident list based on demonstrated need of the space.  Applicants will be notified of their status by April 20th.

Policies:

Students who are granted the privledge of free summer housing must agree to use the space primarily for housing.  Any student that uses the space deemed not in line with residentital use will be billed the current tennet rate for the entire summer term and the organization will not be eligible for the summer housing program in the future.  The space is not to be used for storage of personal or other belongings or as a gathering space for meetings or functions.

In order to make the most space available for the most students the application will be split between Summer Session I and Summer Session II, if you will not be using the space for residential purposes for both sessions please only select one.
